The Working WD

A year ago the WD looked like this.

The progress was slow and steady.

The transformation was amazing.

And then yesterday it was put to work raking

and hauling!

A Proud Mama Hen

We didn't even know this lady was sitting on a nest somewhere...
until Jack made this discovery this afternoon.

Millet

My short chauffeur took me for a ride.

We went down to see the corn field
that turned into a millet field.

We sure could have used the rain that totally missed us last night.

The Grass Is Always Greener

Ben looked out the porch window and announced an escapee.

Jack and Tess turned her around.

And then she walked through the shed
and back to the correct side of the fence.

Beating the Rain

It was a race to against the rain,
but Luke won!

Luke got three places baled today.

And he even took time
to help Hannah retrieve the skid steer
that she buried!

Piggies and Strawberries

Bertha had nine little piggies last night.

The girls have been very busy.

There are 50 pounds and 6 ounces in the freezer so far!
Well, maybe not that much.
Elsie has kept some out to make ice cream.
And we might have eaten a few.....
or more.

Only Two More Fields To Go

The first cutting is almost done.

Only two more fields to go.

Everything done so far is hauled in
and stack
and ready to be fed
when needed.

Baling

I think baling season

is the best time of the year.

Selling Bales

Ben sold a load a bales this morning.
Jack finished mowing off one of the pastures.
And the little field that was cut the other day got baled.

Plus so much more that I didn't get pictures of.
The garden got mostly weeded but the tiller broke.
A fence line was moved.
Feed was ground.
Grass trimming was done.
And more that I can't even remember.
It was a productive day!

Chicks and Balers

The chicks should have been moved out a week ago
but the rain wouldn't let us do it.
So they finally went out yesterday.

Molly started hauling the chicks out.

The boys said something about valve stems not lining up.
I don't get it.
But they do.
And now they are all lined up.

There's a body in the baler.
Luke worked on it off and on today
whenever he had a chance.
