New Chick Delivery

Yesterday was the day to get ready for the chicks.

The call came at 6:45 this morning
that the chicks had arrived at the post office.

We got Barred Rock and Rhode Island Red in this shipment.

Ben and Molly got everyone moved in and settled.

And now Hershey is very disappointed
because she knows there are babies in there
and she isn't allowed to climb in and take care of them.

Changes In the Weather

43* and sunny Saturday.
Today was a big change.

The calves all crowded inside the shed.

I went for a walk along the west fence line
to enjoy the beauty of it all.

A path was plowed to get in to feed the cattle.

Too bad I don't have the skill to capture the real beauty and depth of it.

It's our first good snow of the year and I'm glad it's here!

A Warm, Sunny Weekend

Too gorgeous to stay inside on Saturday!

We worked outside allll day.

Even one of the chickens went visiting.

I'm sure the cattle welcomed the warmth.

The WD was brought over to the shop
to work on the steering.

Elsie trimmed goat hooves.

Maxine and John were happy
to get back into their pasture
after their little hoof trimming adventure.

Then Sunday afternoon
we took a little sightseeing trip
to the Mall of America.

It is a world all unto it's own!

Can't Complain!

What a difference 24 hours can make!

It was so gorgeous
even the guineas ventured out today.

Ben had a buyer coming to look at the bull calves this afternoon

so he, Hannah and Molly moved them into the shed
so they were close up and ready to be looked at.

Time To Wean The Kittens

This is the 4th group of kittens that Hershey has raised.
Their mom weaned them quite a while ago
and Hershey took over.
We told her it was time to wean them.

None of them were in favor of it!
So these four were sitting outside pouting
when I went out a little bit ago.

44* and Sunny

If it is 44* and sunny in January
you need to be outside.

After the feed bunk is cleaned out
you can play on hay bales...

while your big brother is spreading manure.

You just can't pass up days like this!

Then you can help move cattle.
Even Hershey supervised from the hayloft.

And all the while,
you will be guarded
by the ever-faithful
Hershey and Tess.

Massey Work

Work on the Massey has been happening
now that there is a lull in other projects.

Last night Elsie helped as the front and rear
were pushed back together.

It has to be so perfectly exact.

 And today,
on Luke's 21st birthday,
the boys spent most of the day out there.

I think they are putting wings on
since the wheels are missing.

They are moving ahead on it!
