Livingroom, Twix, and Piano Moving

The new chairs are home and set up
and the living room is put back together!
Love it!

Little Miss Twix kept Ben up most of the night.
She was born about midnight.
Winona is her mom.

It was the day to move the piano downstairs.
The whole process was quite nerve-racking...
for me.

They were all fine with it.

It is an incredibly heavy piece of furniture!

It looks great in the library.
I guess it is a good thing
we hadn't made final decisions on pictures
for the walls in that room yet!

Carpet Cleaning Time

Time to clean carpets!
First we moved the livingroom into the kitchen.
It is all stacked and piled and jammed in.
I was impressed that we made it all fit!

Then it was time to put people to work!

We will do it one more time tomorrow morning
and then move everything back in.

Goober Is Here

Goober!
Havana had Goober a little before 9:00 last night.
She is a very loud mom!
And he’s adorable!

Going to the Lake

The lake is growing.

Jack had to get some fishing in
before the frost leaves
and takes the lake with it.

 Ben went in yesterday
to check the drain.

Galaxy and Mars

I've been busy and sleep deprived
so I haven't taken the time to update the blog.

Victoria needed some help bringing Galaxy into the world Thursday afternoon.
Thankfully Ben and Elsie were both home!
We are also thankful that Victoria decided to do this in the daylight
on a nice afternoon
rather than in the middle of the night
 like most of the others.

He's such a cute little guy!

Of course the next one was the middle of the night again.
I found him at 2:30.
I got Ben up at 3:45 when his mom still wasn't taking care of him.

So we took him to the shop
and let Hershey and Tess do what they love to do.

After some convincing in the chute,
MaryAnn is taking care of him

and little Mars is doing great!

PayDay and Laffy Taffy

Ben went out at 1:30 this morning
and found a very lively PayDay in the runway.
We are guessing Cheyenne had him a couple of hours earlier.
Ben moved him into the barn stall.
PayDay walked right through the stall gate and into the barn
where he scared a cat
who fell off the beam
and unplugged an extension cord
on her way to the floor
which terrified the jeebers out of the rest of the sleeping cats
and Hershey and Tess.
That all scared PayDay enough
that he couldn't find his way back into the stall
and he kept trying to climb the hay bales.
Poor little guy had an exhausting start to life!
I'm guessing Ben just stood there
and laughed at all the commotion!

Eight hours later
a little playmate was born.

 Polly had Laffy Taffy.

M & M

Betsy was a fiesty old girl when we put her in last night
so we figured she would be having her calf soon.
I drew the short straw and had barn duty at 2:00 a.m.

I woke up at 1:00 and argued with myself for 25 minutes
before I finally got up and went out.

Little Miss M & M had been born about 5 minutes earlier.
I was back out at 2:15 and 3:15 to make sure she got up and drank.
Luke's pager went off at 4:10.
Paul got up and Luke came home at 5:30.
The three of us went out
to move Betsy and M&M into the barn
and let the others out into the pasture.

So now it is 7:54
and after Ben and I go out for another barn check
I am coming it to head to bed.
I don't get barn duty tonight!

Wires Down

There was a mishap involving CenturyLink lines a few nights ago.
Lots and lots of poles and lines went down.
And so did my ability to load pictures.
So now I am finally posting pictures of Lovey's Butterfinger.
She was born Wednesday over the noon hour.
She's a big, big girl!

We received 1.07 inches of rain
on top of the record breaking February snow.

 The lake is back.

I'm thinking of stocking it this year.

KitKat

24* and sunny, what a beautiful day to have a calf.
Miss Kitty gave us KitKat right before lunch.

She wasn't interested in cleaning her up
so we put corn on her.
Then Ida was more than willing to jump in
and help Miss Kitty clean up KitKat!

It's amazing how fast growth occurs in a calf.
Reeses is only 67 hours old here.

Sunshine After the Snow

Sunday turned out to be a beautiful day.
We needed that after the lack of sleep the night before!

Reeses met Confetti.

Shiloh posed in the sunshine.

Baby Ruth is a tiny 55 pounder.
Ben showed her what she needed to do.

Ellie Mae wasn't doing a good job of cleaning her up
so Hershey and Tess helped out.

Then Elsie took over on making sure she knew how to eat.

She's a cute little critter.

Plans Kept Changing

Plan A
Someone does the bedtime barn check.
Paul does the midnight check when he gets home after work.
Ben does the 3:00 a.m. check before he goes to plow.
All calves that are to be born today do so after 6:30 a.m.

That was changed to Plan B
when Paul found out he needed to stay at work until 4:00 a.m.
I got the midnight check
and the rest of The Plan would remain the same.

I did the midnight check at 11:40 when I woke up
and we moved to Plan C.
All was fine in the barn with Miss Kitty, the one we were watching.
But Ellie Mae was mooing out in the pasture.
So I went out to check on her and found a wee little one.
So I went back to the house
to get Luke and Elsie up
so we could move the calf to the shop
and get her warmed up.
We put her back in the barn with her mom
and got back in the house around 12:30.

I went out again at 1:00
and then got Ben up at 1:45
so we could get a coat on her before he left.
The clock changed 15 minutes later and suddenly it was 3:00 a.m.
We put the coat on and fed her part of a bottle
and Ben left to plow.

I went out again at 6:00
to find she had the coat mostly off.
At least she was breathing better,
but she was still cold and not totally cleaned up.
Luke, Elsie, and Hannah went out to get her up and eating.
And then Luke left to start plowing because
this snow and wind just won't stop!

So welcome to the world Baby Ruth!

Phoenix and Reeses

Phoenix gave us Reeses yesterday.
He's a Red Angus/Hereford cross.
And he's adorable!

Roof Vents

Ben cleaned the roof vents
the other day.

It was just in time for this weekend
when they will get buried again

in another 10-15”
of the nasty white stuff.

Mr. Goodbar

We asked for name theme suggestions on FB.
Anthony's suggestion of "Anthony is a good name," made me smile.
So we added to Mr. Goodbar's name.

He is now...
Mr. Anthony Goodbar!
