Chicks and a Sunset

Hannah discovered 12 new chicks and their mama.

I love cloudy day sunsets.

Silaging!

Yesterday afternoon
we decided to test the corn again
since inches of rain were predicted.
It tested dry enough.
So the fun started!

 Hook 'em up
and head 'em out.

Just some cuteness in the middle of it all!

 Nothing every goes problem free!
Of course we had some clogging issues to deal with at first.

Luke brought Larry's 8400 over to pack.

 It started out so little.

 I like this one!

 When the chopper clogged
the YoYo Boy got his yoyo out!

While the big boys actually unclogged it!

It kept getting darker and darker....

All 8 of us were out there until the end.

We finished a little after midnight.
But it's DONE!

Wiring By the Little Barn

When the pigs lived here they did a lot of digging.

The wiring got moved to the outside of the fence
so when we get pigs again
they can't destroy it again.

Cattle and Calamity

The chilluns open up the middle of the field
by cutting the corn by hand.
And then it goes over the fence to the cattle.

Calamity's happy family

A Short Start

They gave it a try,
but it is still little too wet.

It still needed packed and covered.

The skid steer sure made it a lot easier to unroll the tarp.

The times of everyone working together
are some of my favorite times.

Getting Ready toStart Chopping

Chopping prep work.

There is always something that needs a last minute fix.

Tires needed checked.

The sides needed reinforcement.

Bearings needed greased.

The chain needed fixed.

Team work.

The Last of Our Alfalfa

There was a wobbly tire on one of the round bale wagons.
Once that was fixed...

it was time to haul in the last of our alfalfa bales.

Baling Church

Sunshine and warm temps means it's...

time to bale church.

The girls spent some time in the kitchen
before they were needed outside.

And they are off......

Ben baled,
Luke stacked,
or threw the bales up for Hannah to stack.

Conference time.

Paul and Molly on the wagon.

Elsie, Hannah, Jack and me in the hayloft.

We found Calamity's latest litter of kittens.

Luke and Ben helped finish up
after they finished baling.

Flowers and Dogs and Chicks

We had the most beautiful bunch
of wild sunflowers
growing out by the woods this summer.

The spoiled rotten dogs
loved going for rides out to see the flowers.

There's a proud mama and her three chicks
strutting around the farm yard too.
