Cutting up Skirts

 While I read history today

Molly and Jack were busy

cutting the elastic out of bunches of skirts and dresses

that no longer fit.

Molly ironed them before I cut about 50 squares out.

Slow but steady....

A Start on a Quilt

Finally a lazy day inside.
I decided to get started on cutting up a stack of jeans.
I had Molly and Jack cut the legs off
last week while I read a history book to them.
Today I cut 200 blocks out.
I'm trying a different pattern this time.
It works in my head
so we'll see if it works in reality.

Fencing and Windy

Paul has been putting in some insane hours
because a bunch of crews went to Texas
and guys are out with Covid.

So the rest of us have been holding down the fort.

Great headway was made on the fence by the barn!

and the waterer.
Only two gate chains to fix and it is all done.

It was windy the other day.

Super windy.

It took some work,

but Molly, Jack and I got the hut back down and secure.

Fencing Fun

Paul and Ben both had some days off this week.

Its was in the mid to upper 70s and sunny all week!

What perfect fencing weather!

These pictures aren't in order because Blogger is being a problem again.

The old goat pasture line got several poles replaced and new wire strung.

The waterer got leveled.

The fence line on the south end of the barn got changed.

Four gates got hung.

Everyone helped when they were available.

It is 99% done

but it was dark when we finished
so pictures have to wait until tomorrow.

Fence Fixin'

Several weeks ago Paul had a day off
and worked on fencing.
Part of that project
was pulling several broken fence posts.

And then cold and snow and work and trips and life
got in the way of finishing the project.
So when Ben unexpectedly got Friday afternoon off
he put some of his younger siblings to work.

They spent the morning
fencing in the corn field
that had been plowed up
and planted to a cover crop
so they could move the cows out there.

They got as far as where the gate will go

before time of day

and other work called them away again.
