Waterer Installation and Fencing

Yesterday there was finally time
to start working on the waterer re-installation
and the fence line.

Ben and Elsie spent the most time on the waterer.

 Making progress.

They set a few poles last night too.
Hannah was not thrilled
with being in the skid steer to drill the holes!

Paul got home in time to get in on some of the action.

Supper was sloppy joes
in the pasture.

Paul is off for several days and Ben took the day off from UFC.
We got rid of the broilers first thing this morning
and spent the rest of the day putting in a couple of fence lines.
And the only pictures I took were of Thing 1 and Thing 2 napping in the skid steer bucket!

Good-Bye Mocha Magnum and Broilers

Mocha Magnum left on a couple month vacation yesterday.
Eric's brother-in-law took him to his pasture.

Today was the great exodus of the broilers.

We were out loading them bright and early.

 On their way.

And now they are all packed in our freezers!

The Next Step

We found a few minutes the other night
to take the forms off the concrete.

Ben and Elsie did 98% of the work.

Last night Paul and Ben took a few minutes
to pull some old fence posts
to start preparing for  the new fence lines

The Final Pour

9:00 Saturday was the start of the last pour.

It is an amazing process to watch.

Everyone was here to help this time.

There's some serious pulling going on there!

Everyone got in on the action.

Some did the heaviest work,

but all jumped in at the slightest need.

Nice balance beam routine!

Twinkle Toes checked to see if it was set yet.
The name has been changed to protect the guilty. 😁
Tess wants to make sure everyone knows it wasn't her though!

Time to let it cure for a few days
and then work on the fencing
and installing the waterer
so the cattle can get out on it.

Finally Pouring Concrete

Friday was the long awaited for day!
A friend came to help.

Luke couldn't get off work Friday
so he missed out on the fun.

 The pour started at 3:00.

It was hot and sunny.

It was a fair amount of hard manual labor!

Less than an hour after the truck arrived
he was gone.

It felt so good to have that part done!
The end was in sight!
But there was still more work to be done to get ready for Saturday's pour.
And hay to be cut and raked and baled.
