Elsie's New Wheels

After a tangle with a truck and trailer
that blew a red light
a week and a half ago
Elsie was in need of a new car.
Since Luke and Ben happened to both be home on Friday
several of us went to Mankato to look at Kias.
Molly, Jack, and I went shopping at Michael's and Hobby Lobby
while Luke, Ben and Elsie did the car looking.
The boys did the vehicle inspecting
and made the salesman very, very nervous.
Ben did the wheeling and dealing.
And Elsie got to bang the gong after saying yes.

She came home with a 2017 Kia Forte.

It's a nice car!

A Cool Morning

'Twas a crisp one again the other morning.
But the sky was blue
so there was no complaining!
The young calves welcomed a fresh cornstalk bale
to play and lay on.

Super Cold...Again

About every 5-10 days
we have two or three days
of way too far below zero temperatures.

So we might as well have some fun with it.

And get really cool pictures too!

But look!!

There's blue skies!
So no complaints!

A Frosty Morning

If I had known there was such a heavy frost coming overnight

I would have brought the laundry in!

This is the beauty that we woke up to Monday morning.

So many shades of blue.

Such pure white.

Even the chicken castle looks impressive in it!

Snow and Cold

Hannah and I went out to run an errand yesterday.
On our way home
just as we came over the bridge
we were greeted with this sight.
It must have happened just seconds in front of us.
He had west bound 212 completely blocked.

It made for some pretty views at home though.

Today was MUCH warmer

so I walked out in the field a ways to get some pictures.

On my way back up to the shed
the feeder calves all came up to the fence to watch
and welcome me back.

No Warmer

We got freezing rain over night
in addition to the wind that started at 1:00 a.m.
It is absolutely BRUTAL out there!
We are happy to be in and done for the day already.

Snow, Cold, & Wind

I guess it's going to be awhile before we use these again.

We went to a funeral today.
We got home before before the roads and winds got too bad.
We did see one truck and trailer in the ditch though.

The boys did some work in the shop
since UFC closed at noon because of the weather.

There was a fun drift in the little barn.

A frozen waterer was discovered at chore time.
It took some teamwork
but it was eventually thawed and insulated and put back together
with a light bulb inside.

And now we are inside relaxing and trying to warm up.
