Pickle, Maple, and Ash

Jack gave Pickle a ride.

Pickle was not highly in favor of this!

Molly went out to check the cows when she got home from work.

She discovered that Maple had had her calf finally.

A heifer,

who doesn't have a name yet.

It appears that Ash has been voted in to be the

Babysitter of the Calves

this year.

It's just fun 

that every year there is one cow 

that all the calves seem to gravitate to.

Bedtime for Calves

 I love walking the cows and calves in at night.

It is a peaceful and calming thing to do.

And they are just so dog gone cute!

They usually just want to lay there 

and have us pet them

rather than have to get up 

and go through all the work 

of walking all the way to the shed.

There are challenges,

but overall,

farm life is good!

Calf Catch-up

We finally had an opportunity 

to get the last 10 calves tagged yesterday.

So, for our records,

here are the names of the calves and their moms.

 14. Pressnall's cow with no name had Sunflower on April 14.

15. Katie Elder had Wasatch on April 18.

16. Dallas had Denali on April 19.

 17. Dove had Rendezvous on April 25.

 18 & 19. Cheyenne had Eagle and

 

Baby Ruth had Bitterroot on April 27.

   

20. B-1 had Cascade on Ben's birthday, April 29.

On May 7,

 21. & 22. Nunie had Thor

 

and Ash had Sutter.

And the last one to date,

23. Scarlet had Great Smokey on May 12.
